Dynamic Stabilization Treatment Orange County & Irvine, CA

Dynamic Stabilization is a spinal procedure performed to provide stability to a lumbar spine that is unstable and causing low back pain, which is usually associated with degenerative disc disease or lumbar facet syndrome. Facets are a the paired set of joints found at every level and between the vertebrae in the spine. Dynamic stabilization devices help support and control the motion around the painful segment fo the spine, maintaining flexibility in the backs. Dynamic Stabilization is one of the two options available for non-fusion, motion preservation procedures for the lumbar spine. The other option is Artificial Disc Replacement.

Dynamic Stabilization Procedure

In Dynamic Stabilization procedure, screws are inserted into the pedicle and vertebral bodies above and below the affected level. Non-rigid or flexible devices, such as elastic bands of bendable rods, are inserted into the screws, allowing motion to take place at the diseased level. Dynamic Stabilization procedure usually requires a 2 to 3 day hospitalization.
