Spondylolisthesis Orange County & Irvine, CA
Spondylolisthesis is a condition characterized by one bone in your back sliding forward over the bone below it. It usually occurs in the lower spine area and can possibly lead to nerve root compression, which can lead to back pain, numbness, or weakness to one or both legs. In rare cases, spondylolisthesis can lead to loss of bladder or bowel control.

Causes
Spondylolisthesis occurs when small joints in your spine allow a bone to move out of line. The bones of your spine combine at several small joints that keep your bones lined up while still giving them the flexibility to move.
A defective joint that you might have had since your birth might be the cause of your spondylolisthesis. It might have happened because of a damaged joint during an accident your some other kind of trauma, or because of a stress fracture from overuse, or joint damage brought on by infection or arthritis.
Teens and children who play sports are especially susceptible to spondylolisthesis. Older adults can also develop this condition due to normal wear and tear.
